Training Experience
A
highly qualified and effective English teacher, Margaret broadened her
training portfolio since leaving secondary school teaching.
She
has had experience as a tutor in the Department of Community Studies,
Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology, specialising in the
teaching of Assertion Training and Conflict Resolution. Other courses
taught include Stress Management and Values Clarification.
She
has been involved in staff training through Christchurch Polytechnic
Institute of Technology for the Inland Revenue, YMCA and Polytechnic
staff. Margaret has developed a programme on the communication skills
involved in dealing with difficult persons and situations in the
workplace.
She has also tutored basic interviewing skills
and assertiveness with colleagues to Dietician Trainees at the
Christchurch Medical School.
In the United States,
Margaret has delivered training for the New Mexico Centre for dispute
resolution and the Department of Courts. Margaret has also worked as a
mediator in the Juvenile Justice Centre in New Mexico.
She
has also worked part time as a counsellor at Aranui High School and
runs peer mediation and other communication training programmes in a
cross-cultural context. She has also run train the trainer programmes
for Pregnancy Help.
Most recently, she has been one of the trainers for the DOC/PSA
Partnership Forum Workshop on conflict resolution skills.
Margaret
has run a number of programmes for clients of Lukey Training Resources
in the areas of
One
to One Communications, Effective Presentations,
Public Speaking, Training the Trainer, Conflict Management and Handling
Difficult Customers.
